Project Search Helps Individuals with Special Needs Land Jobs

Project Search is a program designed to help individuals with special needs develop vocational skills and build professional experience through internships. Their goal is to help them find employment upon graduation of high school.

The CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Francis health system in Tyler, Texas is in its 2nd year of participating in the Project Search program. Eight individuals with intellectual disabilities were trained in this year long program where they worked as interns for CHRISTUS. This program teaches recent graduates with special needs the vital skills they need to successfully enter the workforce. Upon completion of the program over half of the interns landed jobs.

The transformation of these students to hard working employees is heartwarming to the project search organizers as well as the community.
