Education Savings Account Program Could Be Coming to Texas

An Education Savings Account (ESA) program was added to House Bill 21 during the Texas legislation this year. ESA is a program for students with special needs that allows parents to move their children to private schools with state funding. Parents can only move their child from public to private if their child’s unique learning needs are not being met.

With the increasing cost of special education and related services; It may be difficult for parents to give their children the type of education they deserve. The ESA program gives parents the opportunity to use money that was deposited into their EA to pay for tuition at private schools, special education therapies, and more.

This change could give parents across the state the choice to choose a fitting education for their child with special needs that they may not have been able to before.
